Katie Fuerst, LCPC

Katie has proficiency and specialized training in working with children, adolescents, adults and families applying evidence-informed and trauma-informed therapeutic methods. She has worked in a variety of practices, including both outpatient and inpatient treatment settings. Katie acknowledges that therapy can feel challenging and is committed to building a supportive, trust-based relationship that values each person’s insight.

Katie offers psychotherapy (traditional “talk” therapy), and play-based therapy through an integrative framework grounded in Child Centered Play Therapy (CCPT), Person Centered, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Katie views the therapeutic connection as a central element in fostering healing and development. Guided by her compassion and strong commitment to children and families, Katie strives to support clients as they navigate a range of challenges. A key focus of her work is strengthening connection and understanding between children, adolescents, and their families.

Katie believes in meeting individuals and families at their current stage and partnering with clients to determine which therapeutic methods will be most effective for their needs, circumstances, and personal goals. She values supporting people from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds, family configurations, and lived experiences in a way that respects both personal identity and shared experience. Katie incorporates elements from play and expressive therapies, sand tray, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), walk and talk, and talk therapy.

Katie completed her Master of Science in Counseling at McDaniel College. She is currently working towards certification to become a Registered Play Therapist.
