Didi Elder, LGPC, MA
Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor
Didi integrates person-centered, family systems, and narrative therapy approaches in her work with children, adolescents, and families. She believes each individual has a unique story and way of making meaning and she creates a safe, authentic space for clients to explore their emotions, identities, and lived experiences. Her work is informed by attachment theory and trauma-responsive care, recognizing the importance of secure relationships, attunement, and safety as foundations for growth and healing.
She specializes in play, expressive arts, and nature-based therapies, supporting clients with trauma, adjustment challenges, attachment disruptions, emotional regulation, behavioral challenges, interpersonal difficulties, and mood and anxiety disorders. Didi has particular expertise working with neurodivergent children and teens, including those with ADHD, autism, and anxiety-related concerns. She is passionate about helping clients strengthen resilience, self-expression, and connection.
Her experience spans a range of clinical settings, including in-home services, after-school programs, parent coaching, and outpatient therapy. Her approach is affirming, strengths-based, and tailored to each client’s developmental and neurobiological needs.
Didi holds a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from The George Washington University and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in Honors Interdisciplinary Studies from James Madison University. She is currently practicing under the supervision of Dr. Courtney Glickman and is actively working toward certification as a Registered Play Therapist.
