Clare Bubniak, MSW

Licensed Master Social Worker

Clare has experience and specialized training in working with children, adolescents, adults and families utilizing evidence-informed and trauma-informed therapeutic approaches. Clare has worked in a range of settings including outpatient trauma therapy clinics, residential treatment centers, and schools. She knows that seeking therapy (for yourself or your child) can be intimidating, and values building a trusting relationship that honors each person’s inner wisdom.

Clare has clinical experience working with foster and adoptive families, youth with sexual behavior problems, and individuals and families experiencing grief and loss, exploring their sexual and gender identity, going through major life transitions, and navigating a wide variety of mental health diagnoses. Additionally, she supports clients through anxiety, depression and mood challenges, religious trauma and shifting spiritual beliefs, perinatal mental health, parenting, adjustment and attachment work.

Clare believes it is important to meet individuals and families where they are and collaborate with clients to identify which therapeutic approaches will best suit each person and their context and meet their unique therapeutic goals. She values working with individuals from a variety of cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds, family structures, and life experiences in a way that honors both individual and collective experiences. Clare incorporates elements from play and expressive therapies, Theraplay, sand tray, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), walk and talk, and talk therapy.

Clare is a Licensed Master Social Worker under the supervision of Victoria Stubbs. She completed her Master of Social Work degree at the University of Maryland Baltimore. She is currently working towards certification to become a Registered Play Therapist.
