Diana Alvarez is a counseling intern currently pursuing her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at George Washington University. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Bowie State University and is practicing under the clinical supervision of Dr. Courtney Glickman.
Diana’s therapeutic approach is rooted in person-centered and attachment-based principles, emphasizing the importance of creating a safe, supportive, and culturally responsive environment where clients feel respected, understood, and empowered. She believes that healing occurs within authentic relationships and works collaboratively with clients to build self-awareness, resilience, and meaningful change.
Drawing from evidence-informed practices, Diana tailors treatment to each client’s unique needs and therapeutic goals. She integrates elements of play therapy, sand tray therapy, expressive arts, mindfulness, and other developmentally appropriate interventions to support emotional growth, self-expression, and overall well-being.
Diana has experience working with neurodivergent children and adolescents, including individuals with ADHD and autism spectrum disorders. As a Latina counselor-in-training, she values cultural humility and is committed to providing affirming care that honors each client’s unique background, identity, strengths, and lived experiences. Her goal is to help clients navigate challenges, strengthen connections, and move toward lasting growth and healing.
