Work with Diana
Diana's Healing Philosophy
Diana creates a safe, supportive, and culturally responsive environment where children and adolescents can feel respected, understood, and free to be themselves. She believes that healing and growth develop through authentic relationships and works collaboratively with each client to build trust, strengthen self-awareness, and recognize the qualities that make them unique.
Diana has experience supporting neurodivergent children and adolescents, including those with ADHD and autism. She understands that young people differ in how they communicate, process emotions, relate to others, and experience their environments. Her approach is affirming and strengths-based, honoring each client’s individual needs rather than viewing differences as deficits.
Grounded in person-centered and attachment-based principles, Diana tailors therapy to each client’s developmental needs, lived experiences, strengths, and goals. She strives to understand what a child may be communicating through emotions and behavior while helping clients develop greater confidence, emotional awareness, and connection.
Diana integrates play therapy, sand tray, expressive arts, mindfulness, and other developmentally appropriate interventions into her work. These creative approaches give children and adolescents different ways to express themselves, explore experiences, and develop coping skills—particularly when thoughts and feelings may be difficult to communicate through words alone.
As a Latina counselor-in-training, Diana values cultural humility and recognizes the important roles that culture, family, identity, and community can play in a young person’s well-being. She is committed to providing inclusive care that honors each client’s background and lived experience while creating opportunities for meaningful and lasting growth.
Diana earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Bowie State University and is pursuing her master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at The George Washington University. She is a master’s-level counseling intern practicing under the clinical supervision of Dr. Courtney Glickman.
